How to fix network manager disabled problem (Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid)

If your network manager is not working, and says unmanaged, or Networking disabled in ubuntu 10.04 try this fix
Open the terminal from Applications menu -> Accessories -> Terminal run the following commands

service network-manager stop
rm /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state
service network-manager start

Change GDM in Ubuntu 10.04 & 10.10

in console run
sudo cp /usr/share/applications/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow
log out and change your settings. After second log in run command below. If you don’t run it you will see this settings screen always when log in.

Set the icon for the keyboard layout in Ubuntu

To replace the keyboard icon with the flags, performs the following:
mkdir -p ~/.icons/flags
cd ~/.icons/flags
or I prefer these icons




installing this flags
in console gconf-editor
that’s all
flags_bar_ru flags_bar_us



Immediately after you run the above command, will be smaller than the picture. This will change at next log on.
